Hydrogeology

Hydrogeologie

Groundwater is fast becoming an increasingly valuable resource, that needs to be protected. In a densely populated and industrialized country such as Germany, groundwater protection is given a high priority by european, federal and state legislation, which is reflected in the very strict regulations that are in effect to ensure a high drinking water quality.

To be able to assess the detrimental effects of hazardous materials on groundwater quality and to be able to design remediation measures, complex investigations must be carried out. With its qualified team of hydrogeologists, geologists, environmental engineers and chemists, the Soil Mechanical Laboratory Gumm provides full service for hydrogeologic investigations, beginning with assistance in preparing tender documents with workscopes and necessary sampling wells, followed by design of necessary groundwater monitoring schemes together with the assessment of data thereof, as well as groundwater flow and particle modelling.

A further aspect is the hydrogeologic investigation for upcoming excavations. Here we provide the design of dewatering measures, including dimensioning of pumps and lines, and, as representative of the client, may obtain necessary abstraction permits required by local, state and federal regulations.

An additional focus is the site investigation and design of storm-water infiltration systems, which, in times of rising duties for sewage, are rapidly gaining importance, also for smaller scale construction projects.
